Ethical Crystals
My fossils, crystals, and stones have prices that fluctuate with the current market demand, but I cannot (and do not) compete with wholesalers or resellers. This is because wholesale stones are unethical at every step of the resale process. While often far less expensive, wholesale rocks, crystals, and fossils frequently come at the cost of the destruction of protected land and the exploitation of child labor. Additionally, many wholesale operations take advantage of their customers by preying on clients who aren’t as knowledgeable when it comes to identifying minerals and their sources. As an ethical and eco-minded seller with degrees in both geology and art, I am able to harvest and identify my own stones, relying upon only my own labor to collect safely, ethically, and with the buyer in mind, which contributes to an ethical and environmentally conscious buying process.
Eco-Friendly Art
Creating works that are both artistically enriching and environmentally friendly is extremely important to me. All of my art is created using post consumer (meaning pre-owned or pre-used) materials, most of which had been destined for landfills. I work with a wide variety of materials, accept donations from friends and strangers, and frequent recycling centers, thrift stores, and post-consumer scrap stores. Materials are then broken down, refreshed or restored if necessary, and reformed into new workable material. This process takes time, and does effect how often some products are carried, as I am not buying material in bulk and rely on the raw material I can find myself. This practice results in work that is absolutely unique, a store that is constantly updating and refreshing with new products, and reduces my carbon footprint!
