“ Chimney Stories “ is a book series of collected stories meant to be read to children as a treat by the fire in the late Victorian period. This is the first in a long series of printed “ children’s books “ out of Chicago when books were still viewed as a status symbol in the US. Featuring topics from the Scarlet fever, Whale Skinning, to giving children moonshine to go to bed; these stories were meant to entertain both adults and children who read them with stories and illustrations inspired from the period.
While physical copies of this book are rare, reproduction’s are forever preserved in the US archive, where you may read an edited, and condensed version of this series there.
